Kondo

Egg activation triggers clearance of maternally deposited RNA binding proteins.  bioRxiv, 806968.
embryogenesisにおけるmaternal-to-zygotic transitionの時に、マターナルなRNA binding proteinsがubiquitin-proteasome systemによって分解されるメカニズムを示している論文だけど、これに関わるE2 conjugating enzymeの名前が「Marie Kondo」と名付けられている。。。もちろん今話題の「Tidying Up」で有名なあのコンマリから取られているわけだけど、こういうのって本人に了承を得たりしてるんかな。まぁ、不要になったタンパクを片付ける遺伝子という意味で、かなり的を得たネーミングではある。というか、これはかなり面白い。本当にフライガイ達は遺伝子にオモロイ名前を付けることに一生懸命ですなぁ。
"Due to its role in removing proteins given as part of the maternal dowry, we renamed UBC-E2H as “Marie Kondo” (shortened to “Kondo”).  Finally, through immunoprecipitation experiments, we determined that ubiquitination of ME31B was completely absent in Kondo knockdown embryos.  Thus, we conclude that Kondo is required for the ubiquitination and destruction of ME31B, TRAL, and Cup during the MZT."
