Crime Bulletin

ここFSUではだいたい二週間に一回くらいの割合で「Crime Bulletin」（犯罪速報）というメールが大学当局から送られてくる。つまり、二週間に一回くらいキャンパスの近辺で学生が犯罪に遭遇しているということになる。

例えば今朝送られてきたのはこれ。

On March 14, 2012 at about 11:00pm, an armed robbery occurred near the Leach Center east parking lot, close to the ROTC Building on the west side of the main FSU campus.  A female was walking when she noticed a white car pass her, and the passenger point at her.  She kept walking, turned around, and noticed the passenger had exited the car and was approaching with what appeared to be a handgun.  The suspect demanded the victim’s belongings.  The victim complied and the suspect was last seen fleeing the scene in the vehicle.  Police did an immediate search of the area, but the suspects had already fled.  The victim was not physically injured.

つまり、昨晩１１時頃に大学構内を歩いていた女子学生に車から出てきた男が銃を突きつけて身ぐるみはがしたと。犯人は逃げて行方が分からないので気をつけましょうね。ということですな。ちなみに犯人が捕まったということはまず聞いたことがない。たいがいがこの、夜中に一人で歩いていた学生がrobbery（強盗）に遭うというパターンなので、あぁまたか、夜ラボに来る時は気をつけんとあかんな、くらいにしか思わないのだが、今日の午後に来た速報はいつものとは違ってなんやら緊急性が高い感じだった。

The Florida State University Police Department is responding to a reported double stabbing at Regans Hall #1.  At this time, it is assumed that the responsible parties are the victims.  There is no report of an assailant at large at this time.  Regardless, all persons in the area should use caution and avoid the Regans Hall Complex.  Numerous emergency vehicles are responding or are on scene.

大学構内で殺傷事件が発生したようなのでそこから避難するように、と。まぁ午後はずっとコンフォーカルしとったから知らんかったんやけどもね、怖いーゆーねん。二日連続やし、しかも今日のは昼間にstabbingて。FSUはアメリカでも結構治安が悪い方なのかなぁ、たぶん。ダートマスにいた時にはこんな事件は一回も聞いたことがなかった。まぁ、あそこはあそこで特別治安がエエ地域やったんやけど。
